Having seen from recent photos how well the Westcliff-on-Sea Ring-billed Gull "Rossi" and the Mediterranean Gulls have been showing, I decided to have a go at getting some photos. After a lot of looking round and wasted bread feeding the local Black-headed Gulls, Turnstones and Sanderlings, Rossi was seen flying off the casino roof. I enticed the gull to some bread which it picked up from the shore very close, too close to fit the whole bird in the frame on many occasions! Between feeding sessions, it sat up on some lamp posts or on the sea. Unfortunately there was no sign of the winter plumaged Ring-billed Gull found and photographed the previous day by Josh Jones, and also blasted by Will Bowell. Their Ring-billed Gull shots of the two plumages can be found here and the Med Gulls here.
