This Great-spotted Cuckoo was present on a small golf course near Worthing in West Sussex. It showed down to 15 yards as it fed on the greens and tees. Fortunately most golfers had been deterred by rain which just finished as we arrived. The sun then came out and the bird performed brilliantly. By no means an anti-climax to two days of quality rarities, with Belted Kingfisher the previous day and Short-toed Treecreeper seen before heading for the Cuckoo.
