| The Gambia, West Africa, 28th November to 12th December 2008 |
| I spent 2 weeks in The Gambia in November/December 2008 with top photographer Bill Baston , based at the Senegambia hotel on the coast south of the capital Banjul. We spent 5 days upriver, catching up with pretty much all our target species. Extensive trip reports detailing the best sites etc can be found on Surfbirds. A local guide is the best way of finding the birds you want to see. We hired Modou Colley, a keen conservationist as well as an excellent birder with unbeatable knowledge of the birds and the best places to find them.
