This tiny Kingfisher was seen in the mangroves along the Rio Tarcoles. This is a male due to the lack of a green breast band

A couple of these shy birds were seen in the mangroves by the Rio Tarcoles and by the lagoon along the river trail in Carara National Park.
Fiery-billed Araçari         Pteroglossus frantzii
Just one seen in Carara National Park. The Collared Araçari was fairly common at La Selva in particular but not photographed at all well

One or two seen in the Carara area and possibly elsewhere. I must confess to not bothering to identify every yellow-brown flycatcher we saw!

Common in wetland areas. On the Rio Tarcoles, a couple of pairs were nesting in boxes on the boat!
