Canada Warbler
Kilbaha, County Clare, 11th October '06
The first-winter Canada Warbler showed pretty well in the bushes near Kilbaha. Unfortunately viewing was restricted to a small area, without any room for tripods, so I had to hand-hold the 500mm to get a few record shots. The top image was taken at 1/80th of a second, showing the value of the Image Stabiliser! A most successful twitch, with Red-eyed Vireo also being seen - a fantastic first visit to Ireland.

I'd just like to add my thanks to the finder of this super bird and to the locals for being so accomodating.

(PS. NONE of these shots were taken with flash... I don't even own an external flash! and the built in flash does no good with a 500mm lens.)
